Tom Preston

Mr Tom Preston
Chairman Board of Governors

Tom is the Chairman of the Board of Governors at Beaconhurst and is a former Stirling High School pupil. He attended Stirling University where he gained his BA in Accountancy in 1984 and then qualified from ICAS in 1987.

He has held a number of corporate director positions and is currently a shareholder and Director of a crowd funding business, offering funding to start up and established businesses.

Tom is a keen sportsman with a particular interest in golf. He lives in Stirling with his wife and two children.

 

Stuart Pender

Mr Stuart Pender
Vice Chair Board of Governors

Stuart is the Vice Chairman of the Beaconhurst Board of Governors. Stuart is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries and is currently the Chief Executive of Lomond Capital. Stuart has operated at Director level across a number of Financial Services, Insurance and Property business for the last 15 years.

Stuart lives in Bridge of Allan with his wife and three children, all of whom have or are attending Beaconhurst. His interests include golf, skiing and holidays with the family.

 

Bill Arundel

Mr William Arundel
Chair Business Review & Development Committee

Bill Arundel is Chair of the Business Review and Development Committee, was previously the Chair of the Marketing Committee and joined the Board in 2007 as a parent Governor.

Bill has worked in the upstream and downstream retail petroleum industry in various engineering, project management and sales and marketing roles for the past thirty years. Most of his career has been spent working with Daniel Industries (part of the Emerson Group) and Tokheim. He is currently the Group Sales and Marketing Director of Tokheim with global responsibility for all Sales and Marketing activity related to Key Accounts, Product Marketing Strategy and Marketing Communications.

Bill is a qualified Mechanical Engineer, a full member of the Energy Institute (MEI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Bill lives in Stirling with his wife, Gillian and their son Logan attended Beaconhurst School, leaving in 2013.

 

Roland Bone

Roland is a former pupil of Beaconhurst (1987 – 1996) and followed a career in the outdoor sports industry before moving into the banking industry twelve years ago. Roland now specialises in economic sanctions compliance and his career has taken him to various countries in Asia and Europe. Roland discovered his passion for outdoor sport at Beaconhurst and remains a keen skier, mountain biker and white water kayaker. Roland returned to Beaconhurst as treasurer of the Beaconhurst Alumni Association in 2010 and then was initially co-opted and then appointed onto the Beaconhurst Board of Governors in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

 

Col Alasdair Campbell

Col Alastair Campbell

Alastair was born in Rhynie in 1952. He was in The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and saw active service in Lebanon and Northern Ireland. On leaving the army he briefly became a hotelier in Blairgowrie and then joined the MOD Civil Service and worked in the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow, before becoming Regimental Secretary and Museum Curator of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Stirling Castle in 2000. He then became the Regimental Secretary of the newly formed Royal Regiment of Scotland, a post he still holds. A local councillor from 2003 – 2009 he became a Deputy Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk in January 2013.

He lives in Buchlyvie with his wife, three boys (one former and one present pupil at Beaconhurst) and assorted pets and poultry.

 

David Clark

Mr David Clark
Chair Education Committee

David was educated at George Heriot’s School and then the University of Stirling and Moray House College of Education. He gained a BA (Hons) in Psychology and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

A former Headmaster of Fettes Junior School and then Loretto Junior School, he went on to hold the post of Deputy Director of Scottish Council of Independent Schools. David has been a Governor of three other independent schools, Aiglon College (Switzerland), George Heriot’s School (Edinburgh) and The Compass School (Haddington).

David is married with three children and seven grandchildren. His interests include playing golf, bridge and gardening.

 

Dylan Fletcher

Mr Dylan Fletcher

Dylan has been a Governor for over seven years. He is a qualified Surveyor and has been further educated in Project Management with many years experience in this field. He holds the position of Director for a number of companies and is most notably a Company Director with the FES Group of Companies.

Dylan lives in Bridge of Allan with his wife and two children, both of whom attend Beaconhurst.

 

Dominic Ind

Revd Canon Dominic Ind
Education Committee

Dominic was educated at Denstone College, Staffordshire, before attending the University of Lancaster and Ridley Hall, Cambridge, studying Religious Studies and Theology.

He was ordained in 1990 and has served in several parishes across England and Scotland.

He is currently Rector of St Saviour’s Episcopal Church in Bridge of Allan and he is the Episcopal/Anglican Chaplain at the University of Stirling.

 

William Robertson

William obtained his Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying and then went into private practice. After achieving Charter status, he joined the family construction business. As Chairman and Managing Director, he successfully ran the business throughout his working life and has only recently sold his interest in the company.

William lives locally with his wife and three children, all of whom were schooled at Beaconhurst. William is a keen golfer, skier and mountain biker.
