Co-curricularPastoral Care

A school is not just a place of learning, but also a community. At Beaconhurst we embrace pupils from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds. However, they all share the same values of tolerance, decency and respect for others. From holding open doors for others to welcoming visitors with a friendly greeting, pupils soon develop the confidence that good manners encourage.

From the Junior Start to Junior 6 each class teacher is responsible for the monitoring and guidance of pupils in their care. From Transition each child is assigned to a tutor and regular meetings are timetabled to ensure that sound links develop as the pupils navigate the sometimes turbulent teenage years. Parents are encouraged to maintain close contact with these staff but should also feel free to contact the Headmaster, Deputy Head or Senior Tutor whenever necessary.
Co-curricular

Personal, Social and Health Education is seen as an essential part of each child’s development and a broad course is followed throughout the school which covers many issues relating to personal development, peer group pressure, social interaction and managing relationships.

Careers Education begins in Senior 2 and continues throughout the school. Beaconhurst is a member of the Independent Schools’ Careers Organisation which offers comprehensive support and advice for pupils and parents, including ‘Futurewise’ – a skills profiling programme which all pupils undergo in Senior 4.
